The Different Types Of Shower Head

Learning how to choose the right shower head can be pretty difficult, especially if you’re unfamiliar with the terminology used by manufacturers to describe their products. Whether you’re looking for something sleek and modern, like a rain shower, or something more traditional that delivers a powerful spray of water (and saves you money on your utility bills), there are literally dozens of different shower heads out there just waiting to be discovered. Let’s look at three main styles of shower heads and what they have to offer so that you can find the perfect one to meet your needs.

Handheld

If you’re looking for something basic that provides a simple spray pattern, then you don’t need to look any further than handheld shower heads. These shower heads will get you clean without doing anything out of the ordinary. They can also be easily installed on any standard water pipe with a secure connection that won’t leak or come loose at an inconvenient moment.

Wall-Mounted

A classic for a reason, wall-mounted shower heads provide good coverage with minimal maintenance. They mount to either your shower wall or a handheld bar that you can place wherever you need it. Wall-mounted shower heads don’t use much water and come in both rainfall (i.e., cascading) or traditional spray settings; be sure to choose one with a flow setting if you’re concerned about conserving water.

Freestanding

If you’ve ever stayed in a fancy hotel with an outrageously good shower experience, chances are it was equipped with a freestanding shower head. These sorts of shower heads can often be customized to your liking; if there’s a feature that you want but don’t see built-in, it’s probably possible for you to add it on. This is done by replacing existing parts or adding additional parts entirely (though both of these processes might require some renovations).

Rain Showers

These are really fun for children of all ages, but are also good for adult relaxation. There’s something invigorating about a good rain shower. They’re one of our favorites. These showers can be more costly to install than other types of shower heads. To enjoy a rainfall shower you may have to install an entire system with different attachments because these showers usually require water pressure at least two-hundred pounds per square inch (PSI) or higher in order to spray.

Steam Showers

With today’s innovations in technology, showering in your home has never been better. Although most people take showers as a routine every day, there are many options to give you just what you want out of your time spent in a steam room. Steam showers come equipped with speakers that play music or an mp3 player hook up to give you plenty of space to enjoy all that steam has to offer.
